1. High pressure polyethylene is prone to undergo photocatalytic oxidation, sintering process, ozone decomposition, and dissolution under the action of ultraviolet radiation. Waterproof tarpaulin has a very good light blocking effect on high-pressure polyethylene. After irradiation, cross-linking, chain breakage, and unsaturated fatty groups may occur.

2. High pressure polyethylene has good chemical resistance, with various compounds at room temperature. However, sodium cyanide and sulfuric acid have strong destructive effects on high-pressure polyethylene.

3. High pressure polyethylene will age, fade, crack, become brittle or powdery under the action of atmosphere, sunlight and oxygen, and lose its mechanical properties. At the molding temperature, the degree of immersion of the solution in waterproof tarpaulin will also decrease due to air oxidation, resulting in color fading and stripes.
